price of us stamps increase
Algebra 2 honors word problem BEST ANSWER 10 POINTS!!?

okay guys not just the answer explain it..

The price for US postage stamps has increased over the years. Since 1975 the price has increased from $.13 to $.37 in 2005 at a rate that is approximately linear,

a. Write a linear model for the price of stamps during this time period, let “p” represent the price and “t” the number of years since 1975

b. what would you expect the price of stamps be in 2015?
just explain this to me very clearly..i dont get it..

thanks

do you still need the answer?

a. p= the price in cents, t=time in year since 1975
p=4/5t+13

The formula to find the slope (m) would be m= (change in price)/(change in years)=(37-13)/(2005-1975)=24/30=4/5

Then the formula for a linear equation is p=mt+b

in this case b is the starting price in stamps, when t=0 or rather when it was 1975 the price was already 13 cents.

b. p=4/5(45)+13
p=36+13=49 cents

ps. if you dont want to do price in cents, i think the slope would be .04/.05, but you would have to check that out on a calculator first.

sorry i didn’t see your question earlier.
